SAT PREP TIPS

How to Easily Increase Your SAT Test Score by 100-200 points

We believe you can improve your SAT score dramatically by simply spending some time becoming streetwise about the exam.  Keep in mind that the SAT is a game and just like chess, baseball, tennis or any other sport, those who know how the game is played have a huge advantage over others who are ignorant of the games peculiar rules.

How to manage your time wisely

The main way to master your SAT time management skills is through practice and simulations.  It is very hard to overemphasize this important point.  Therefore you are strongly encouraged to take at least a few mock SAT exams, trying to simulate the actual testing environment.  10 RealSATs consists of actual SAT questions used in prior exams and will most closely simulate the types of questions you will see when you sit for the exam.

Ascending order of difficulty

Generally, SAT questions become more difficult as you go through each section.  If you are nearing the end of a section and you cant figure out the last few questions, your time will be better spent to review the questions in the beginning and middle of the section.  Keep in mind that all the questions count the same.  Furthermore, a few blank answers wont make much of an impact on your score.

Dont waste time

This probably sounds self explanatory, but dont waste time re-reading directions after the test has started or coming back from breaks late.  These activities take time away from working on the questions.

Avoid random guessing

Because of the way SAT is scored, you will not be aided by completely random guessing.  If you have no idea what the correct answer is, simply skip it and move on.  The only exception is for the open ended questions without multiple choice.  Try to write something for these types of questions.

In multiple choice sections, IF you can eliminate at least one incorrect answer , then your odds improve of getting the problem right, and its advantageous to guess.

Eliminate the deliberately deceptive wrong choices

With practice, you should begin to learn how to recognize the SATs deliberately deceptive incorrect choices.  There are several common patterns here that will begin to become apparent as you proceed through your preparation.

Practice, practice, practice

Every test taker will benefit by reviewing each SAT exam section, but pay particular attention to your weakest area.  This will provide you with the most efficient use of your test-prep time.
