September    Prepare resume

Write draft of application essay

Meet with counselor to review and fine tune college list

 

                   Register for SAT/SAT II/ACT

                   Sept. 12 – Deadline to register for Oct 6 SAT/SAT II

                        Sept. 21 – Deadline to register for Oct 27 ACT (with/without writing)

                        Oct 2      – Deadline to register for Nov 3 SAT/SAT II

                        Oct 30    -  Deadline to register for Dec 1 SAT/SAT II

                       

                   Register for TOEFL if planning to attend English-speaking college/university

                             (many dates available in Sept/Oct – see www.ets.org/toefl)

 

                   Meet with college reps who visit ISP

                   College Fair at ISP – Sept. 18

                        Linden College Fair at Marriott Hotel – Sept.19, 6 – 9 pm

                        CIS College Fair at Marriott Hotel -      Sept 20, 7 – 9 pm

                  

 Oct               Meet with counselor to confirm

                             Appropriate range of choices (dream, likely, safety)

                             Application and financial aid deadlines

                                      Teacher recommendations (min. of 2 weeks to prepare)

                             Essays, other specific materials required

                  

                   Take ACT/SAT/TOEFL as scheduled

                    

Nov             Complete applications

 

                   Nov 20 – Senior Page pictures due to Yearbook (including baby pictures)

 

Dec                 Dec 3Completed applications to US, Canadian schools due

                             to Sharon Johnson; ISP mails completed applications (see Checklist)

 

                   Prepare to complete the FAFSA if applying for financial aid as U.S. citizen

 

Jan              Submit FAFSA if U.S. citizen

 

Jan  –  Apr     College acceptances arrive at varying intervals

 

Apr                  Financial aid award letters arrive from U.S. colleges

                   Visit accepted colleges if possible (especially during Spring Week, 3/15 – 3/23)

 

May                May 1  Deadline to choose the college to attend

                   End of May – Senior Brunch/Awards, Graduation rehearsal

                                                                                                                 

                     May 31 – Graduation!
