What are Examples of CAS Activities?

 

CREATIVITY (C) – 40 hours minimum

 

§         Instrumental or voice music performance or composition

§         Painting, drawing, photography or other media classes – outside of school

§         Reading good literature outside of class and writing analyses of works read

§         Dance performance, choreography, teaching

§         Playing a role in a threater production – acting, lighting, costuming, casting, production, directing, props

§         Creative writing, film-production, newspaper layout

§         Visiting museums, art institutions, galleries

§         Designing and administering educational lesson plans for an orphanage or school

§         Participating in whole school celebrations

§         Thematic bulletin board displays

 

ACTION (A) – 40 hours minimum

 

§         School related sport teams – a blend of practice and playing time

§         Sports endeavors outside of school – football, hiking, league team sports, fitness workouts

§         Dance – jazz, ballet, tap, modern - a blend of practice and performance

§         School extra-curricular activities – debate, student council, event planning, culture clubs – outside of school time

§         Projects leading to donations

§         Forestry projects

§         Beach cleaning

§         Recycling projects

§         Cayuco racing

§         Outward bound activities

§         Debate programs: HACIA, UN day, Yale, HMCE, Great Debate

 

SOCIAL SERVICE (S) – 70 hours minimum

 

§         Cerro Viente School  “sister school” – special events, weekly visit, food, clothing and educational material drives

§         Tutoring – for peers, younger students

§         Visitations to orphanage and old-age homes

§         Camp hope

§         Casa Esperanza

§         Hospital del Nino

§         Helen Keller School

§         ANCON

§         Day care centers

§         Orphanage San Jose
