Theory Of Knowledge (TOK)/philosophy

Level: IB Diploma                             Length: 1 year                          Credits: 1 in Social Studies

This course is required for students seeking the Panamanian Diploma and for all IB Diploma candidates. It is recommended for all ISP high school students. There is no IB examination for TOK.
TOK is taken the second semester of 11th grade, and the first semester of 12th grade.
 

The Theory of Knowledge course aims to develop the student’s intellectual potential. The course asks the student to become critically aware of moral, aesthetic and political values. TOK explores topics in language, logic,
mathematics, science, social science and history. IB diploma candidates are required to submit an essay and complete an internally assessed presentation. The essay will be externally assessed and must be between 1200
and 1600 words in length.
