Course Description
Grade(s): 11-12 Level: IB SL or HL Credit(s): 2 in Spanish
Prerequisite(s): Spanish 2
This course is recommended for students with prior experience in the learning and use of Spanish as a foreign language.
Spanish B
will provide students with the opportunity to communicate correctly and
effectively in a range of situations and contexts, comprehension of the language
and culture of Hispanic countries. IB Spanish B will
develop the student’s skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing through
the study of a wide range of literary and nonliterary texts, tapes, movies and
programs. A primary goal of this course is to develop the student´s ability
to comprehend and express ideas in Spanish. There is both a written and oral
assessment in Spanish B. The IB examination at the end of the two year course is
assessed externally. The oral assessment is based on class
activities and is moderated externally. Although SL and HL students will study a
similar program, the HL level requires a more rapid rate of written and oral
expression during the final assessment.
