Course Description
Grade(s): 11-12 Level: IB HL Credit(s): 2 in Mathematics
Prerequisite (s): Algebra II/Trigonometry
To enroll in IB Mathematics HL it is recommended
that entering students have earned an A in Algebra II/Trigonometry.
This two year course is designed for students with
strong aptitude and background in mathematics. Students should choose to study
this subject from a genuine interest in mathematics, its challenges and
problems. Others
will choose this course because they need HL math for University studies in this
subject or related subjects, such as physics, engineering and/or technology.
This course covers several core or compulsory topics: fundamental
mathematics (sequences and series, counting and proof, trigonometry and complex
numbers), statistics, probability, functions, calculus (differentiation,
integration), and matrices and vectors. Series and differential equations is an
additional required topic taught in addition to the core topics.
