Course Description

Grade(s): 11-12                        Level: IB HL                       Credit(s): 2 in Mathematics

Pre- requisite(s): Algebra II/Trigonometry

To have the best chance of success in lB Math HL it is recommended that entering candidates have earned an "A " in Algebra II/Trigonometry

This two-year program is designed for determined students with strong aptitude and background in mathematics.  Some students will choose to study the subject because they have a genuine interest in mathematics and enjoy meeting its challenges and problems.  Others because they need HL math for further studies in mathematics or related subjects such as university level physics, engineering and technology.  This course covers several topics such as: fundamental mathematics (sequences and series, counting and proof, trigonometry and complex numbers), probability, functions, calculus (differential and integral), matrices and vectors.  Furthermore, there are additional topics studies as options such as: binary operations, graphs and trees, analysis and approximations.
