Theory Of Knowledge (TOK)

Level: IB Diploma                             Length: 1 year                          Credits: 1 in Social Studies

Pre-requisites: None

The first part (TOK A) is taken in the second semester of 11th grade.  Part 2 (TOK B) is taken in the first semester of 12th grade

TOK is required for all IB Diploma candidates and recommended for all ISP high school students.  There is no IB examination for TOK.

The course develops the student’s intellectual potential while making them critically aware of values dealing with moral, aesthetic and political judgments.  The course consists of subjects such as language, logic, mathematics, science, social science and history.  All students must complete written and oral assessments. 

For IB Diploma candidates, the essay will be externally assessed and must be between 1200 and 1600 words in length.
