7th Grade Students Present Ancient Chinese Inventions in Shark Tank

During 7th grade Social Studies classes, students have been studying ancient China, and have been reflecting on the valuable tools that were created that are still being used in the present day. In an effort to help students truly internalize the power of these inventions, Mr. H (Cory Hagenau) organized an Ancient Chinese Inventions “Shark Tank” modeled after the popular game show in which contestants have one minute to share their idea, why it is valuable, and why people should use it.

During the presentations, students gave their elevator pitch about their inventions, while also putting them in the context of ancient Chinese civilization. Following each presentation, students had a chance to give feedback on the “pitch” as well as celebrate their classmates for their creativity, passion, and research.
