- The Elementary School Sports day which this year included a JOYFUL Pod community building relay event as the culminating activity. I'm not just saying this because I'm in the purple, Tucuxi, Pod which finished in 1st place!
- The ADVENTUROUS attitude of our students to try different activities as part of the ASA program this year!
- ISP continues to lead the way in Central America (AASCA) for COMPASSIONATE character with ISP winning three Sportsmanship trophies this school year!
Our PRINCIPLED student athletes and teams continue to be competitive at the local, national and international levels. This was a year of celebration for the individual sports with Tennis, Track and Field and Swimming all returning from AASCA with banners and trophies. It may take a number of years for student athletes across Central America to beat the 13 new AASCA Swimming records set by ISP students this year!
Students were AUTHENTIC as they reflected on the importance of diet, sleep, rest and physical activity during a global pandemic and strict lockdown measures in Panama.
Our INDEPENDENCE allowed ISP to continue to be pioneers for sport in Panama - the Athletics Gala is another example of this and in May we continued this tradition of celebrating our students and athletes with the Gala held virtually. The graduating class of 2020 received more nominees this year for the Female and Male Senior Athlete of the year awards (from their coaches) than ever before. We are proud of this resilient generation and it is not surprising that the two Senior Athletes of the Year received a combined total of College Scholarship offers exceeding $500,000.
You've got summer mail from the Athletics Department
This year really does seem like one of the longest and, at the same time, one of the shortest in my career to date. I am extremely proud of, and thankful to work with, our PE department and coaches and instructors in the after school program. Some personal highlights of mine from the 2019-2020 are included below:
We wish you a relaxing and joyful break, wherever you may be. I hope that we can all find time to reflect, read and take time away from our screens to focus on our physical and mental well-being. We look forward to seeing you in August!
