Math in Middle School

Over the past two weeks, the Middle School has hosted two parent events with the hope of sharing the philosophy and approach to education, and brainstorming how parents can best support their students at home. Stay tuned for more upcoming parent events over the next few months!

Math in the Middle School
On Wednesday, we hosted a parent event focused on mathematics in the Middle School. During the session, Marina MacDonald (Math Coach), Brittany Leknes (6th/8th Grade), Sara Becka (6th/7th Grade), and Andy Hutchinson (7th/8th Grade) took a deep look into our philosophy and approach to teaching mathematics in the Middle School at ISP. During the session, we covered the following topics:

  • Philosophy and Approach
  • Pathways and Progression from 6th Grade to 12th Grade
  • Historical Results of Our Approach
  • New Reporting Standards
  • Math in a Remote Setting

Google Classroom Parent Lab
Last week, Technology Coach Luis Carlos Moreno hosted a workshop for parents of 3rd - 8th grade students on Google Classroom. During the workshop, Luis Carlos explored topics such as:

  • How to navigate google classroom
  • How to find feedback and know how your student is doing
  • How to support your student at home
  • Answer any questions you may have
  • And so much more!
