Embarking on a journey through the heart of American history, students from 6th, 7th and 8th grade had the extraordinary opportunity to explore the American capital, Washington DC. Each moment was a chance to learn, grow, and create lasting memories. From exploring iconic landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Library of Congress, to engaging in unique experiences, their trip was packed with excitement.
Amongst many activities, they visited the National Air and Space Museum, Georgetown University and even found tranquility amidst nature during a hike through Shenandoah National Park, soaking in breathtaking views and discovering the beauty of the great outdoors. The excitement peaked as they cheered on the teams at Capital One Arena during a Caps vs Senators hockey game, experiencing the thrill of live sports in the heart of the nation's capital.
Their journey ended on a high note at the Organization of American States (OAS) headquarters, where they had the opportunity to talk with Secretary General Luis Almagro, gaining insights into diplomacy and global affairs.
As they explored the diverse attractions of Washington DC, each experience left an unforgettable impression on their journey. Here some of our students share their experience in their own words:
D.C was a great and different experience for me. I had a lot of time to travel, learn, and socialize with others. I especially had a lot of fun going to the museums and learning new stuff I didn’t know before. I am eternally grateful that I got the chance to travel with the school!
Sophia Aquino Ibarra, 7th grade
My experience in Washington, DC was something very interesting and fun to live. The trip was not only educational but also fun. I was able to see several different places, go on tours that taught me about history, about literacy, and politics. We went to museums, a zoo, to a show and watched a hockey game. I was able to explore new places, but also get a feeling of independence, and how responsibility, problem-solving and quick thinking, apply to life and traveling. But apart from that, I was also able to spend time with my classmates and friends. Do fun activities with them and create memories that we will all treasure forever. For me, going to Washington is one of those experiences that are worth trying. Not everything was perfect, but looking back to it, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Sofia Caceres Revello, 7th grade.
I think the trip was really fun and I had such a good time. It was really good having time with friends and going to different places. I had such an incredible time and I loved it.
Mia Pecile, 7th grade
The DC trip was an amazing experience and a great adventure. I made friends from different grade levels and it was very interesting to learn more about the US capital and its history. I will never forget all the fun I had and recommend it to middle schoolers.

As the students bid farewell to Washington DC, they carry with them cherished memories and valuable lessons. At ISP, we believe that learning is a journey of authentic discovery, aimed at developing understanding, skills, and character. Guided by our principles of learning, such as the belief that learning is meaningful, social, and exciting, our students immersed themselves in real-world experiences during this trip. Let the spirit of exploration and unity they experienced inspire future adventures, as we continue to foster a culture where learning is not only enriching but also empowering.
And who knows? Perhaps one day, these students will return to Washington DC, not just as visitors, but as leaders shaping the course of history themselves. Until then, let the memories of this incredible adventure fuel their dreams and aspirations.
