Board of Directors

As a non-profit school, ISP is governed by a Board of Directors. Carrying on the traditions of our founding families, our school board ensures that ISP perpetuates its goal to provide world-class student-centered education, inspiring lifelong learners for a future without borders.

ISP Board of Directors is comprised of 5 elected members and 4 nominated members.

Elected Members:

Mariela Paredes  is a proud mother of 2 boys, and proud ISP Alumna Class of 2002. Having spent a great part of her life at ISP’s La Cresta and Cerro Viento Campus, Mariela grew together with the school. Recognizing that growth and how important it has been in her personal and professional life, she now feels that it is her duty to give something back to the school that gave her so much. A Georgetown University graduate, Mariela holds a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Change, as well as a MBA from the University of Louisville. She believes that her education and experience in business, banking and marketing, as well as various community boards, will allow her to positively contribute to building a strategy together with other board members and school administrators that will ensure ISP maintains its position as leader in education in Panama.  Mariela hopes to follow her families tradition at ISP,  so that one day her grandchildren may also enjoy the ISP experience.

 Wiston Uzcategui joined ISP BOD - for a two years period - to support the strategic vision by advising on corporate governance and improvement of the workplace environment. Wiston started his career in P&G, initially in project management roles prior to specializing in Human Resources. After 20 years working in six countries with the multinational – including his leading role supporting P&G activities at ISP - , Wiston established his own consultancy business (Valor Humano) in 2011.He brings his experience and strengths in managing complex organization transformations. He has advised more than 100 corporations and family-owned business in translating business strategy into all strands of HR practice. Wiston is graduated from Universidad de Los Andes and has an executive education at Stanford Graduate School of Business (Stanford, USA) and Instituto de Gestion Empresarial (Barcelona, Spain). He has been an ISP parent for 11 years.

David Bianco joined ISP in 2010. His daughter is now in middle school. David believes one of the main reasons for ISP's success is its non-profit status and is certain investing everything back into the school is in the best interest of our children's education because it drives all of our efforts. Another reason David believes there is no place like ISP is the world-class teaching staff, accompanied by an impressive campus and an approach to education that ensures children become responsible global citizens ready to make an impact. David was born and raised in Panama and his wife also happens to be an ISP Alumna. For 16 years David has worked for Reprico S.A. Currently he is the General Manager and before that he worked as head of the IT and Supply Chain departments. David holds a Computer Systems Engineer degree from USMA in Panama and an Executive MBA from INCAE. Throughout his professional life he has gained experience in strategic planning and implementation, participating in company transformation process, deeply understanding the challenges involved in managing change in organizations.

Eduardo Caruso is an HR executive with more than 15 years of experience working in global organizations. Eduardo holds a Master's degree in Business Administration which accredited him to lead HR-related disciplines in highly reputed MBA programs in Brazil, prior to move to Panama. He is also author or co-author of papers and articles published by Latin American journals and magazines. He was elected to the BOD and will serve a 1.5 year term. Eduardo hopes to support the BOD strategic view by bringing the team together to achieve common goals that will keep our school and community as a reference.

Yasser Williams is a lawyer and real estate developer with more than 10 years of experience in his field. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Laws and Political Science from the Universidad Catolica Santa Maria La Antigua and is currently a partner at the firms Williams & Williams, Urbania Developer, S.A. and Urbania Developer Levante. He also serves as a board member or advisor to multiple non-profit organizations and is the Chairman of the IFF Panama Foundation, which organizes the annual International Film Festival of Panama. Yasser’s experience as a lawyer, entrepreneur, and advisor has given him the opportunity to provide legal advice to both local and international organizations and solve complex issues that relate to non-profit organizations. Yasser believes that regardless of our background or nationality, we all want what is best for our children, including an outstanding education. As such, his main objective as an ISP Board member is to contribute his skills and expertise in helping the school continue to grow in a sustainable way.  (May 2019-May 2022)

Appointed Members:

Ana Cristina Rubinoff is an ISP Alumna Class of 1999 and as such, attending ISP kindergarten through 12th grade,  she witnessed ISP's earliest transformations from its modest beginnings in La Cresta to our campus in Cerro Viento. Ana's parents were among the founding members of ISP in 1982. Part of a visionary group that decided to establish a non-profit school in Panama based on the principle that education should be at the forefront of a school rather than monetary returns. She continues to share this vision for ISP as well as its pursuit to offer the best education possible in Panama, while mindful of the importance of balancing these goals with strong finances. Ana is the mother of two young ISP students. As a family, they are invested and committed to ISP for the long run, and will work to continuously improve ISP's educational offering a sustain its value to the international community in Panama. As a member of the community and ISP parent Ana pledges to uphold ISP's values.

Rafael Quinn Arias  is a Panamanian businessman and Co-Founder of Alternative Holdings.  Aside from his private business interests, Rafael has also served on the board of the Asociación Nacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (ANCON) since 2010.  He was appointed to the BOD of ISP in 2018 and will serve until July 2021. Rafael looks forward to using his finance background in assisting the BOD to achieve its mission of guaranteeing the long-term viability of ISP as the leading education environment in Panama.  He has no doubt that working together, the BOD, faculty, and parent community can maintain this amazing tradition.(December 3, 2018 to July 31, 2021)

 Alexis Tahta Alexis is an investor and the Chief Executive Officer of Landers y Cia. S.A. and Incametal S.A., based in Medellin, Colombia. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Diaco S.A. and Sidelpa S.A. Alexis developed his financial skills by working as a business analyst and credit analyst, from 1990 to 1993, at McKinsey & Co. and at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Currently, he is a shareholder and sits on the Board of Directors of both Landers in Colombia and of Rontaltex S.A., in Argentina. Alexis received a B.A. from Tufts University in Medford, MA. He also attended The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. This year, he completed a Marketing, Executive and Business Improvement Program at the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Alexis and his family believe that a first-rate education is the best legacy for future generations. His mother was a teacher and a high school principal for over 25 years. His eldest son has a Masters Degree in Music Education from the College of Charleston. His family sits on the Board of Trustees of St. Andrew’s Scots School in Buenos Aires; they sit on the Board of the Armenian Community School in Buenos Aires; and they have built and donated two schools in Armenia, their country of origin.

Carlos Giraldo is Procter & Gambles Appointed Board of Directors member. Carlos is an International Business Leader with more than 25 years of experience. He is currently P&G's Vice President of Global Development Markets. He hopes to contribute this corporate expertise to the Board of Directors, especially regarding good governance practices and strategic planning two areas which he considers fundamental to the success of the school. Given that P&G has been recognized as the #1 company in Leadership Development the world over, Carlos is confident he will be able to support the Board and the school to consolidate and bolster its position as a leader in education.
