Grade Five is a year of independence, growth and student empowerment. We offer a variety of leadership opportunities to increase student voice within the school. This provides students with time to work with younger students and speak on behalf of the whole community. They become role models and representatives for their younger colleagues to look up to. Students will build on their learning that has taken place during their time in Elementary School and the year will culminate in a student-driven, action research project. One of the highlights of the students Elementary Experience is our four day trip to Chiriqui, which supports those lifelong skills of self-management and independence; skills that are so important for transition to Sixth Grade. At the end of the year, the graduation ceremony will symbolize the end of the students’ elementary journey as they are and ready for the new adventure that awaits them in middle school.
